Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

Facoltà di Scienze linguistiche e letterature straniere

The Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures at Università Cattolica offers courses that combine a passion for languages and foreign cultures with the acquisition of business, tourism, communication and international relations skills. A project that is firmly in step with the rapid and intense shifts in the global cultural, social and professional contexts.

The language and literature curricula are based on the University’s esteemed traditions and guarantee qualified linguistic proficiency with specialisation in at least two languages. Whereas the theoretical, applied and historical linguistic sciences represent the epistemological basis of the various educational syllabuses. Those who graduate in linguistic sciences are highly equipped linguistically to learn more about and to explore the world. It is no coincidence that the Faculty is one of the best in Italy in the humanities fields as regards graduate employment.

Every language is a culture. [...] Those who exist in a monoculture - whatsoever that may be - lose out on cultural pluralism in itself - because only diversity can be the bearer of evaluation, of productive interactions, of cultural creativity, of civil wealth inherent to the field of language learning.

Sergio Cigada, first Dean of the Faculty of Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures
